Job Purpose

We are currently seeking a Locum Commercial Property Solicitor for an ASAP start to undertake a wide variety of legal work concentrating mainly on land and property matters.

Candidates will need to have a DBS check and be regulated by the SRA.

Working Arrangements - 25 hours per week/3 days per week one of which is to include a Monday in the office – other days are remote.

Key Responsibilities

• To conduct all aspects of legal work relating to land an property, developing landlord and tenant issues.
• Carrying out various commercial and residential property transactions.
• Advising on statutory residential property matters, including Council charges.
• Advising on local government law in the areas of property development work.
• To advise client departments on land and property and highway matters.
• Recording time worked to charge out to clients.
• To maintain a caseload in compliance with Lexcel requirements.
• Instructing Counsel to act or appear on behalf of the Council in circumstances where the best interests of the Council so requires.
• Providing support to the Team leader - Property and Contracts.
• Any other appropriate duties as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must be a qualified solicitor who can hit the ground running.
• Needs to have development knowledge and be able to work with larger scale transactions.
• Mainly all commercial work rather than residential.
• Detailed knowledge and working experience of commercial property law.
• Experience of drafting complex legal documentation.
• Experience of undertaking legal research and formulating advice.
• Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook (or equivalent).
